When I was on the force, I responded to a robbery in progress at a convenience store. The guy robbing the store had knocked out the clerk and put on his uniform. I should've waited for backup, but instead I entered the store upon which "the clerk" pointed towards the back door, telling me the suspect had fled. I secured my weapon and used my radio to call dispatch. As soon as I picked up my radio, the clerk pulled a .44 and put one round into my neck and another into my shoulder. Kind of a strange feeling at first, not much pain, but I remember thinking "Holy f**k, I've just been shot."
