The Human Flesh Armor is good. It's very good, actually.
In AD&D in general, and in BG2 in particular, saving throws and magic resistance rule. It's practically a "save or die" system, where magic resistance is your second line of defense. The Human Flesh Armor provides *immense* bonuses to both - +20% magic resistance and +4 to saving throws. No other item in BG2 (excluding Carsomyr) provides such a potent magical defense.
