One thing to consider, SM, is that kids will go from parent to parent. At some times, Mom is the Chosen One, the parent who can do no wrong and has all the answers. At other times, Dad is the Chosen One.
They apparently tend to cycle over long periods of time. Sometimes they love you, sometimes they allow you to continue to exist.
But don't worry -- all that stuff goes out of the window when they hit the teenage years, and neither of you can do any right!
I'm counting down the time... seven years until Alaina officially hits it. It will be interesting to see what happens...
[edit] Forgot to add that knowing this doesn't make it any easier when you're not the Chosen One. All the great things you did last week (or even yesterday) don't matter any more. But hang on... someday, you'll get your turn back.
