The greater wolfweres only appear if you are a sufficiently high level to face them. And they are indeed tough buggers.

You'll need at least a L13 fighter with an improved haste spell cast on him and hope you get a good couple of criticals on the bugger (critical strike/kensai kai helps).

The greater wolfwere has amazing regeneration powers, and in my experience totally heals after one round. Concentrate ALL attacks on one at a time.
