I think only a clear-headed person should be allowed to ask for assisted suicide. That means no depressive or mentaly-ill or retarded person.
All families are not nice, and some time they may wish a quick death for a relative, to get the heritage sooner and pay less for medical care.
I wouldn't let a medic decide for me if i should be shut down. They too have interests in this (coming from the administration). It reduces the cost of care. A canadian study proved that mortality is 2% higher in private medical centers than in public ones.
