The things that I always try to remember is "A man/woman convinced against his/her will is of the same opinion, still." and "Oh, Great spirit, let me not judge a person until I have walked a mile in his moccasins." Also, "Opinions are like (expletive deleted)s: everybody's got one, and a lot of them stink."
