Actually yes I did know about DDT, and I also know they estimate that 30,000 people a year die from malaria and other mosquito bourne disease each year due to the inability too get enough DDT...so is the massive ban on DDT worth those 30,000 deaths? hmm death by DDT...or possible death at an older age from cancer...tough choice. One point P&T made was that people in rich food abundant nations should "shut the (expletive) up about GM foods" when it comes to feeding those who are starving and facing death due to lack of food. Organicly grown food would only feed a small portion of the worlds population (due to low yeilds per acre), it has been and will continue to be genetic modification and tinkering that has allowed us to continually feed a larger and larger number of people with the land available for growing of food.
Asia would suffer a massive population death if they did not have access to Gm products. Africa is suffering massive numbers of deaths due to not wanting to use GM products. Errr but maybe this is getting tooo heavy for the Cafe
