I actually quite like the variety in BG2, once you get the ammo belt that is. I've used short bows a lot, but trying it out with x-bows at the moment (for some reason I couldn't see my Assassin with a Bow), but until I get UAI I'm limited to light x-bows of which there is only one choice.

Get the Bolts of Biting and combine them with your Assassin's Poison Weapon ability.
Trolls will tremble before you, if not outright flee. [img]tongue.gif[/img] I believe Bernard sells a Light Crossbow that grants an additional attack per round. Memory is fuzzy on this though.
