Whew, that's a lengthy read. Once upon a time, I voiced this as my view of the parties: "Democrats think I'm too stupid to give money or care to the right places, and will take my money and do it for me. Republicans trust me to use my money and will and stay out of my pocket and my way so I can do so." I have never understood why the Repubs, a less-government/more personal responsibility party OPPOSES a right to abortion, but that and the environment is all the Democrats have going for them, and it is not enough. I am pro-abortion, and pro environment, thanks to the Republicans leaving me alone to contribute where I will, I will contribute to environmental causes, to stop any action that I disagree with. Democrats would never give me the opportunity to oppose.
