hehehe,,,, I was level 9-10 with 4 party members
when I entered that place ''you sense a great evil power'' or something when you get near that door way that leads to the path of the Mind flayer city... me as a brave adventurer didn't care less and enterd the lair
... the first chamber it was like ''jezus christ wtf is this'' (reminder: my first time eye to eye with a illtihid!! damn) it was spooky and got slaughterd al the way... finally made it to the last room (better be worth it I thought!)...
just the same tactic as Eternal.. just went for the loot and finished that filty mind flayers an other day (level 14-16
