Statements below are my opinion and only my opinion. You may agree, disagree, or put your fingers in your ears and hum "Lalalalalalalalalalala", but its still not going to change the fact that its my opinion. That being said, I post the following. In My Opinion...it becomes the government's job to protect people from their own stupidity by default. You see, the stupid & scammed often end up homeless and on public assistance. It's quite obviously the government's job to minimize homelessness and public assistance, so it is in the public interest to arrest, try, and punish scam-artists like the one described above. As for punishment, I tend to be environmentally friendly. Can she be burned like a fossil fuel to try to reduce our dependence on foriegn oil?
