That ain't what I'd call a 'minor' disadvantage, JR. Normally I prefer unenchanted Plate (not even Full Plate, just Plate) to magical stuff such as the Ankheg armor, because I can just give the unenchanted stuff to my Cleric (who has a godly AC anyway), and the Full Plate to my other Fighters. But I will use the Ankheg (or the Plate+3, in ToSC) if
A] I've got a Fighter/Druid (maybe even straight Druids can wear it, too)*
B] More than 4 folks in my party can wear the heavy stuff, or
C] I like the color. (Ankheg and Amnish helmet, or Plate+3 and Helm of Glory.)
*I'm not too familiar with Druids yet. They can use Scimtars now, and even though I think swords are totally contrary to the Druid role, they actually make the class a lot more playable. To me, anyway.
