Finaly got SS2 to work! Combination of a software patch (which the website indicated is not required for the version i have) and the WinXP compatability mode for Win2000. That's right, an XP feature that actually works! After being initially disgruntled at having to wait so long due to problems that could have been fixed in a day, i was totally blown away by the atmosphere and level of immersion of SS2. Not to mention the horror. I can't explain the tension you feel when you're standing in a small electrical conduit trying to fix your weapons with only a wrench for self defense when a mutant horror slowly walks past mumbling obscenities to itself. Or when you're hiding behind some broken desk reading your emails when you hear a scream and look up to see a crazed chimpanzee running toward you. Absolutely, spine chillingly AWESOME. My hat goes off to LG. They've done a remarkeable job of converting all the original horror and suspense into a newer engine. I am at a loss to explain how a game as good as this could possibly be a commercial failure. What's wrong with gamers today?
