There are none important items, there are some very useful, though.

To get there, you must go with Saemon out of the Asylum after your first fight with Irenicus.

If you want maps with locations and spoilers, try Mike's RPG Center. If you want them unspoiled and unmarked, you can find them using Infinity Explorer or Near Infinity.
