primary master is your primary harddrive where all your data is stored (windows, programs etc) so no you dont want to touch that at all maxtor is a make of hdd btw.

although 133 is backwardly compatible (clocks it down to 100) you CANNOT mix 100 and 133 in the same machine, it wont work (worked for me twice and i cant explain how, its meant to be impossible but take it as it wont work if you try it) , you may need to flash the bios, but to flash the bios you must be certain what your motherboard is and what it supports, compaq site should have the info if you look up all serial numbers on it.

and garnet you only get pairs in the old memory like edo or in P4 even then you only need a splitter not an actual doubled up selection of memory (ie 128mb in one slot and splitter in its adjacent slot) sdram doesnt work like that, a single stick or any combination is fine, just as long as the speeds are the same.

have u tried the 256mb 133 on its own without the 100? if so and it doesnt support it either its too old or you just need to flash the bios, could try emailing compaq support and give them your motherboard details and check what the latest flash bios is then get instructions how to do it, normally takes about 5 mins when you have a disk with it on and its straightforward enough.
