If I recall correctly hydrogen (fusion) bombs convert 1% of mass to energy. Or course it takes that 0.3% conversion from a fission explosion to compress the hydrogen to start the fusion reaction.

I have heard that Lawerence Livermore labs has a new computer system coming on line that may allow them to develop pure fusion bombs, so you can have the big boom with little to no nasty long term radiation to clutter things up.
