When I was growing up a long time ago, on the farms and such (They were correctional boys farms) it really was not uncommon for people to do these sorts of things. You got strong quick, or else, you would not get fed much and you would be strapped for being lazy. You had to be strong. I dunno how many of you folks have bucked hay, but, do you even realize how big or how heavy a bale of green hay is? Yet, millions of folks probably have bucked hay, I am just guessing that not many of you have.
As far as physical strength goes, folks sitting in front of a computer for many hours are not the strong sorts. Even folks like pro lifters are not that strong. Oh they have strength, enough to gorrila press 500 pounds or so for a few seconds, but, they can't keep it up long. However, folks who work sun up to sun down get strong quickly. To even assume that anybody, especially as somebody else put it, "teenagers" can't do this, well, the world would not be what it is today. It was teenagers, kids even, who built the pyramids. Slave labour. Most of those slaves never lived to see the age of 20, so yes, they were teenagers. Not just the pyramids either. Entire cities have built on the backs of so called teenagers, most of whom have strong backs and muscles like iron from contant heavy labour. As for saying it is physically impossible, how many of you realize that your legs have to produce energy of anywhere between 10 to 12 times your own body weight or so to break gravity and jump just six or so inches into the air? Now folks who can jump even higher have to call up even more energy. People, almost all people have amazing amounts of strength, however, they rarely find them selves in a situation where they are forced to learn how to use it. The human body is one giant machine, a series of levers, springs, etc. Martial arts like Aikido teaches you how to use these in a better fashion, allowing seemingly frail old men to throw folks 20 feet acrossed the room. People can learn these sorts of things naturally as well, as in the case of folks who do manual heavy labour. Want to be strong? Go out and dig ditches and lay irrigation pipe. Buck hay. Haul sweet feed into a loft. Do it all day long. You wont be weak very long. Hell, you will probably surprise your self. But most folk don't do these sorts of things in this day and age. Or, go and work on an oil rig Hauling sections of piping and lugging drill bits around all day will make you a monster.
Of course, it's more fun to be lazy and do nothing at all. Sweaty hard labour is for suckers
