Yup, outside on my evergreen foundation shrubs. I use the C9 size (large), clear multicolored bulbs.

Nothing a cat can eat, destroy or severely damage! LOL I use wooden (painted) ornaments, metal or resin and a few plastic ones. No lights on the tree (cat chews the little bulbs...sigh...and he knocks the tree about at least a few times each year!), but I do have an angel on the top.She's made of plastic canvas and yarn and is quite lovely. No icicles, the cats would eat them. But some of the metal ornaments are bright, shiny gold.

I PREFER to shop all year 'round. Most often, though I finish around the end of November or early December.
