Irenicus, the Shattered One (aka Jon-Bon the 3rd) wears the Robe of Vecan, Amulet of Power, has infinite spells and, IIRC, is under a constant effect of Improved Alacrity. This is a
strong combo.
Taking him down in a Mage-to-Mage, Spells-vs.-Spells isn't a good idea. Planetars are your best bet, here - so be sure to have a wish spell or two and, once again, cross your fingers. Use the Planetars to cast Insect Plague on him, and have them cast Globe of Blades.

The way i handled it eventually, was to summon a planetar ( or 20 ) and let them all cast Insect Plague ... a tactic I borrowed from Alson

Glad it helped you.

The reason I addressed the invisibilty, is because dundee had the same problem I believe .. he was out of spells, but found some way of taking him down with the SotM, using the invisibility.

Yep... Dundee's tactic was so simple that Weimer decided that his almighty creation shouldn't fall to it:

From the Tactics Mod README:
Release 4:
....
* Irenicus: Final Irenicus can now see invisible. No hiding in the final battle.
