I would agree that pension plans that don't keep up with inflation are losing ground, can anyone say Social Security? But I believe if you are willing to let the politcians give you your pension, and look after you in your old age, well you'll get what you wanted.

I think my point still stands - even if more is being spent above inflation for the whole group then each person may receive less than an inflation rise as there are more people each year to cater for.
And as for the pensions, just because you let the government have it does not mean you "want" it to be run badly and for you to have less money. Politicians should be servants of the people, I personally thought that wa the foundation of democracy. Just because the system doesn't work that way now does not mean it could not work that way if we tried to change it instead of accepting it as the way things are for evermore. So I think state pensions are a very good idea personally.
