In many places in the game, it is actually easier to have only one character. The game plays through much faster due to the lack of excessive party management and you will level up six times faster than you normally would. (or maybe five times... my maffs is shot to hell)

The only bad thing about soloing is having "libellous defecit in yer sky-rocket" and not being able utilize all the cool weapons that you pick up. But that's when you create a different character and go through again.
