Talking To Yourself Is Good For You
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Wireless Flash) -- Talking to yourself is considered a sign of insanity, but it might keep you from going crazy.
Swedish psychotherapist Per Naroskin speaks very highly about the benefits of "talking loudly to oneself."
Naroskin says talking out loud to no one in particular forces you to listen to yourself and, as a result, people work more efficiently and sleep better and develop talents they never realized they had.
If that doesn't leave you speechless, Naroskin says the talking technique is even better if you use lots of crazy accents and funny voices when you babble.
If talking to yourself is too lonely, Naroskin suggests starting out by gabbing with a pet, a plant, a car or, like Tom Hanks in "Castaway," a volleyball.
Naroskin's research appears in a new Swedish-language book, "The Benefits Of Talking Loudly To Oneself," and he is considering offers to translate it into English.
