Hiram,
As a Christian, I firmly believe that there truly is "someone for everyone". I understand your fears and frustrations though. My first major relationship lasted 4yrs, but ended rather badly. After that, I went for 3 years without having any significant dates.
As many others have said, I finally found her after I quit looking so hard. I met her while working on a "temp" job in the Data Processing Dept. of a local hospital. She worked in the Business Office also. We started "seeing each other" and after about 2 weeks of "seeing each other" every single day, we realized we wanted to become serious. We were both catious, because our previous relationships had ended badly.
The really funny part is that I never asked her to marry me. It's true - I never proposed to my wife. She came over to my house one Saturday morning to pick me up. As we were going down the road she asked what I wanted to do.
"I don't know", I said "Do you want to go over to the jewelry store and pick out some rings?"
That's how we became engaged. We will have been married for 10 years in February and we have 3 extraordinary boys.
Don't give up hope. I was 29 when we met, but it didn't take long for us to realize we were soulmates. The right one IS out there...and you will most likely meet her when you least expect it.
