In the panhandle sure wages are low, compared to other parts of the country, on face value. Hale my wife and I bought a house, lived and raised two daughters, on my wages $7.50 per hour. It's not the high cost of living that gets you IT'S the cost of living high. You can find houses 1600-2000 sf for around the $100,000 range. Now don't all you big city folks come rushing down to get one of those houses cuase we'll just raise the prices on you
Wages are low here in Alabama too, but we have a State income tax, Lord we got taxes coming out the ying-yang.
