That's my all-time favorite movie! Even have the sound-track. Jim Henson had to create most of the special effects to make that movie. The huge mechanical guard at the gate to the goblin city was the largest puppet ever made (at least at that time). The scene with the fiereys (sp?) was done with the puppeteers wearing black velvet and stand in front of a black velvet screen; instead of the green screen that is used now. Ludo was actually a man in a costume instead of a puppet! It had to be redesigned several times to make it light enough to be worn.
