Yes, of course you're right about the fighter stronghold - but in my case, my fighter was too nice and didn't ask for money
With a thief it's OK to try to make more money...
Another thing regarding thieves - I read somewhere that Swashbuckler/Fighter can be insane, but I haven't tried it yet...
