Hey, NiceWorg, I LOVE the Wizard Slayer class. When you have good armor, good weapons, and a few healing potions...what more does a fighter need?
Like Heartless Butterscotch said, mages become incredibly powerful at high level. That's why I enjoy nothing more than just walking straight at them as all their spells bounce off of me. A few Arrows of Dispelling as I advance, and those annoying defensive spells are no longer a factor. Then it's just a big, bad fighter and an un-armed mage - up close and personal. The end is swift and brutal.
Of course, the reason I love the Wizard Slayer class so much is because it reflects the general attitude of the 1st Edition barbarian in PnP. He was a VERY powerful fighter with lots of endurance and skills with weapons....but he didn't trust magic. They especially did not trust magic-users and weren't even allowed to adventure with them at low levels.
I played a barbarian and my college roommate played a mage. We had some great times "antagonizing" one another in our games. When I saw the Wizard Slayer kit, I knew I had found the class for me.
