The Democrates turned this thing into a 3 hour televised Democratic Rally. It was shameful to use this man's memorial service for the political value of the television coverage.

They actually booed the state's Republican governor and the US Senate Minority leader , who were there in an official capacity, to pay their respects to a fellow elected official. Booed them at a memorial service.

Republicans were outraged and some Democrates admitted this was too much.

It doesn't matter what state you're from, it doesn't matter if you're a Democrat or a Republican, and it doesn't matter whether or not you like the officials in question, but what does matter is that this was a service to honor the life of Senator Wellstone. He was a politician but was this a tribute to his memory? No.

This was a memorial service, and the things that were done were beyond distasteful.

It's even more ridiculous because it was completely unnecessary for political reasons. The Democrates want to hold on to that seat, right? Well, they've picked Former Vice-President Walter Mondale to replace Wellstone in the race. Mondale enjoys a 98% name recognition value in MN, and a nearly 70% career approval rating. Three days ago when he was mentioned as a replacement the polls showed him leading the Republican candidate by nearly 10 points. That was before he entered the race.
