Generally right, MagiK, except perhaps on the characterization of French, etc's historical behaviour (which I don't want to stir up a debate about), and the question was largely rhetorical. I wish I remembered more of my WWI history now. I do remember lots, but very little Turkey-specific stuff. Turkey must be in an odd predicament, being an EU member for all the pecuniary reasons one would want to be one, yet being largely Muslim, having mostly Muslim neighbors, and being a linchpin for US operations in the area. What makes stranger bedfellows, war or peace?
