To summarize: Throne of Bhaal is the closest thing to Baldur's Gate III that you'll get. Yes, definitely pick it up! It adds the last three chapters to the game, several new areas, the Watcher's Keep dungeon (an optional XP arena with tons of goodies), and a great plot conclusion at the very end.
