Of course, once it tumbles the one time, it's point of impact chamges. Also when the military round hits a hard object, such as a human being, it IS designed to tumble, but not deform like, say a soft tip bullet. That is so it will cause a greater wound but still meet the rules of the Geneva Convention. The 7.62x39 round used in the AK47 does the same thing.
Learned that in the Army as well.

Really you don't have to do that much to a AR15a2 to make it match grade, if you start out with a good base rifle. Just tighten up the lower and upper receiver a little, add free floating hand guards, change out the trigger and add a little weight to the butt. Maybe change out the barrel. That's about it. It can all be done for under $300.
