Saz, the sorting isn't as big a deal once you get a system going! We've had to sort out cans/bottles and paper for several years now in my city. So I've got a bag on a stand under the kitchen sink for the recyclable cans/bottles and a small plastic can near the counter for the soda/drink bottles and cans. Paper products, including newspapers go into a paper bag in the basement.
