Good morning, everyone. Really good mild weather, here. Time to open the windows!

We went out window shopping yesterday (a reasonably fun pastime) and Macy's already has an extensive Christmas display set up. The holiday is 3 months away and they are already trying to get the jump on shoppers. Are they going to keep pushing the retail season earlier each year? Will they set up displays the week after Labor Day next year? Eventually they'll just keep a corner dedicated to Christmas active all year long, so you can get started planning for the holiday season just after your tax return comes in. Have you ever just had a seat and watched people shop in a mall? It's really strange. Many of them have this partially glazed look in their eyes, focusing on the store that is their next destination and not looking what is in front of them. The worst ones have that glazed look while chatting on their cell phones: "yes, I'm here at the mall just doing some shopping. Right now I'm in front of the Disney store and I saw Marsha coming out. We chatted for a bit about what new clothes her daughter had. She looked really fat in that dress." I'm not cynical, am I?
