All three Bard kits are good, but you should probably play them in different ways. Skalds do best with their singing, which gives the rest of the party some awesome combat bonuses. Use them as backup missile firers or spellcasters only when needed. I like to turn jesters invisible and send them ahead of the party to soften up any enemies that may be waiting. Jesters can use their "song" while invisible, causing groups of monsters to become confused and attack each other. Finally, blades are good melee fighters, but you should first have a well armored fighter out in front to attract the enemies' fire and then have the blade come charging in.
