The best character in the long run...? thats realy difficult to decide....i say if you like spells choose an multi or mage class....if you like diablo, whit hack and slash.....try a warrior....
one thing to notice is that if you like the spes. class in bg2 you cant play bg1 and then go on to bg2....so you have to be the "pure" classes.....
