Also, ever heard of "work to rule"? that is how the nameless faceless cog in the machine gets absurd company policy noticed and brought into the light, by mercilessly executing their orders to the penultimate degree, using what the greek philosiphers referred to as "reductio ad absurdium" - taking another's argument and applying it to the most extreme example to show it's inherent folly. Thus the rigid application of rules w/o independent thought becomes the rule's downfall...
