I got paddled again the next day for answering one of her questions " yes" instead of "yes Maam" The catch is I had just moved and started school in this new place a week before and nobody told me to say yes Maam or no Maam. Although I now live in Yankeeville (actually redsoxville)I still reply to women of all ages as Maam when appropriate. My wife has burned the habit out of me when refering to her though. You TOO! I got it in Florida. MY Dad was in the Military so we move alot. 4 years earlier when we moved to Washington State BOTH of my older brothers got in trouble for saying "Yes Ma'am" the teachers thought they were sassing them, and being smart asses. So we quit saying Yes Ma'am to the teachers. Then we moved back down to Florida and I got in trouble for not saying Yes Ma'am
