Nicely written, even though I never really feel comfortable with all these patriottic kind of articles... Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Though I think you could write something similar for most civilizations in the world, just omit the bad parts (that horrible Prime Minister of yours comes to mind) and you're all set.
