With the HUGE success of X-Men (and soon to be X-Men II), there are literally dozens of Superhero movies in various stages of planning or production.
Everything from Ray Parks(?) as Ironfist to Wesley Snipes as the Black Panther.
Can't remember the name of the site...I think it was cinemascope or something like that. Anyway, with X-Men II and Hulk coming out next May, I started speculating on which superhero would have the next movie. One of my friends "linked" me to that site, and there were well over 40 different "possible" superhero movies listed.
AFA DC vs Marvel, the difference is in the cast and the writing. Marvel simply has a TON of high quality characters with great writing. DC basically has Superman and Batman. Take away Flash, Justice League of America, and Green Lantern/Green Arrow, and all the others are just LAME (sorry K.T. - I'll take Submariner over Aquaman any day).
As I got older, I also noticed the writing for DC just SUCKED out loud. These SUPERHEROES would do some of the DUMBEST things because the writers couldn't think of a clever way for the villain to escape.
Example - In one specific Justice Society/Justice League crossover, the storyline was done as a "murder mystery". One of the heroes from Earth 2 was killed, and only the "heroes" on the satellite could've done it. The first thing the group did was to have Dr. Fate and the two Green Lanterns surround the satellite with an impenetrable barrier that even Superman couldn't break through.
The barrier goes up and the investigation begins. At the end, they discover that a wraith-like villain has possessed the Flash from Earth 2 and committed the murder. The "Flash" escapes though, because the heroes were soooo busy with the "impenetrable barrier, that NOBODY thought to block the TELEPORTER that they all used to GET TO THE SATELLITE!!!!!
In other words, they put this big, fancy fence around the building...but nobody bothered to lock the front door.
LAAAAAAAMMMMMMEEEEE!!!
The only real exception was Batman. It always had good writing and good stories. Even Superman was kinda lame, because the creators suddenly realized they had created an invulnerable, super strong, superhero with a plethora of superpowers.....now they had to create a string of villains that could actually challenge him.
