Now we can't play tag because those who are incapable can't handle it, well, you little brats, you know what happens to your kind in nature? YOU DIE!!! So go home, cry to mommie, and blame your inability to handle life on tag, or the fact that you blew your classmates away on video games and sh!tty rock music. PANSIES!

I dare say your (and Carlin's )sweeping generalization is not true. Being a 'baby boomer' as are MANY people on this board, I'd disagree that it's specifically the generation that is at fault. Such generalizations are usually heavily flawed. That's why they are used in 'comedy' because it is usually apparent they are exaggerations.
It's the whole pervasive 'we must never have competition btwn children' atmosphere. Somewhere along the line it became fashionalble not to let children learn from mistakes and games like this. As someone else points out, you might lose a job or not get the house you bid on or any number of other disappointing things in life. Learning to deal with disappointment is part of growing up and sheltering children from it entirely isn't helping them in the long run.
Got a bit of unresolved hostility there, Oblivion, Hunter etc?
Caleb, very interesting thread. Very much a contemporary issue.
One word of caution to everyone:
Try to keep your posts flame free and leave the name calling out, it doesn't enhance your views in any way.
