YOUR PETITIONS HIT THE MARK!
Last Thursday morning, the Grassfire team traveled to
Washington D.C. to deliver your petitions to The U.S. Justice
Department, and to Rep. Lamar Smith's office.
The results of these deliveries were nothing short of phenomenal.

As we discovered, we chose the perfect time to deliver your
petitions. Let me explain.
Upon arrival, Rep. Lamar Smith's office was scrambling to get
his Child Obscenity and Porn Prevention Act of 2002 (H.R. 4623),
into full committee mark-up--essentially the final step before
going to the Senate for vote.
The fact that we were delivering 135,000 petitions in support
of this bill sent a very clear message that the American people
want strong and immediate action on this issue!
Our next delivery took place at Attorney General John Ashcroft's
office at the U.S. Justice Department-urging them to appeal the
decision to overrule CIPA.
Even though security wouldn't allow us to take photographs of
the delivery, associate director, Chris Huff, spent an hour
carefully explaining how the attorney general is fighting
online obscenity.
In fact, several times, Mr. Huff said, "Tell your people these
petitions are the best way to get heard in Washington... They
are making a difference!"
WHAT AN ENCOURAGEMENT TO PRESS ON!

We are convinced Washington is ready to listen
and act on what American's are telling them about the parade
of online smut.
