You only meet the Demon Knight, when you talk to Ike and take your tour in Durlags Tower. If you don´t talk to him, the Knight will not apear on the ground level. Anyway, you will meet him on Level -5 and then you can kill him (which is quite easy I found). I cannot remember exactly, but the first time, when I didn´t trigger the appearance of the Demon knight in level 0, Ike appeared after defeating the Knight on -5.

PS Six, didn´t you reload yet and tried Level -4 again ?
