Hey, just a little bit of info to make the whole issue a bit more complicated:

As far as I know Aragorn animates a horde of undead somewhere in the last book (or was it the second?)

That would still speak for a ranger -> cleric, but that would man that he could not wield bladed weapons which he certainly did.
