Ah Official English. A seemingly symbolic (but very much not) legal concept with a pretty interesting history that reads like a labyrinth populated by immigrants (going as far back as those pesky Germans of Benjamin Franklin's day), Native Americans, and closet fascists.
This is pretty much the most important work by the only relevant writer on the subject. He's mostly interested in education.
