As opposed to the current situation? I'm not entirely sure I see the difference, we've got the house of cards, I mean Saud, doubletalking out of their ass to stay in power, fundies running Iran and supporting Syria and Hezbollah, Pakistan which again plays the doubletalk game doing as much as they can get away with, much like a poor officeworker who does just enough to not get fired, the friends we have are either despots or very careful not to tread on the toes of their people in their "support" of us.

harkoliarJust imagine alot of Euro, China, Russia's oil are from the middle east, take that away and there is not a typhoon or butterfly effect anymore. Its good bye world economy. Lets hope that wont happen. Just because US is halfway around the world doesnt mean they wont be affected.
Then let them worry about stability there and let their troops bleed and die to keep it safe for their oil production. There's huge oil reservoirs in Alberta and new deposits found in the Gulf of Mexico that combined dwarf the oil in the Persian Gulf. OR they could put money into alternative fuels, Denmark has made some remarkable strides towards that end, or so I read 8-9 months ago.
