Having been imprisoned and tortured alongg-side her mother when Pinochet took over Chile in the 70s, having lost her father to a torturous death in prison for fighitng against Pinochet during the same time, Michelle Bachelet, a pediatritian by trade, has won the Chilean election and become the first female president.
Keeping her promise to the people, she called a cabinet of 10 men and 10 women to serve under her.
US and Chile ties are assumed to be as strong as ever under the new rule.
Bachelet hopes to give more freedoms to women, help more with the poor, and all the other things that people sometimes promise to get elected, but I personally feel that she has the capacity and the desire to actually do what she's preached.
