I don't believe in capital punishment except under the most extreme circumstances - and even then, no one person has the right to give that order. This case is hardly extreme. Nguyen was simply a mule. Killing him is like trying to stop the postal service by deflating the posty's scooter tyres. (Less effective than that even - posties have a union.)

Capital punishment is the best deterrant? It ain't working. There are endless expendable mules in many countries that can be coerced into traffiking. They're certainly not asking for co-operation from those further down the ladder. Nguyen spent his entire prison sentence aiding investigators from both countries. He spilled his guts - and gets rewarded with death. Nice work guys. Real smart.
