I have read that al-Jazeera is doing a grate good at reporting.
What has been the impact of al-Jazeera?
Tremendous, fantastic -- it takes the place CNN had in '91. The best thing about globalization is that the whole world is watching, and that puts the American army, the American government on the spot. If al-Jazeera shows pictures of American or Iraqi dead, the whole world knows about it, and it puts extra pressure on American networks that want to self-censor and avoid angering the American government

JOHN R. MACARTHUR is president and publisher of Harper's, the oldest continuously published monthly U.S. magazine. He is also one of his industry's most penetrating critics. Compared to most of us at Ironworks I think he would know more than us on reporting.
