I'm not downplaying Iraqi suffering at all, some innocent civilians will pay part of Saddam's debt because he wouldn't do what he should have, and agreed to do.
No question, there will be suffering on both sides for years to come.

I feel sorrow for the Iraqi people as a whole. They have no choice, they couldn't decide where they were born. Even if they had the means to leave Iraq, they have no where to go. They will pay the ultimate price, whether they support Saddam (and I believe most don't) or not.
