Charean, NK has missiles that are theoretically capable of reaching the West Coast of the US, but those missiles have never been successfully tested at any significant range.
Also, NK is not thought to actually have a nuclear weapon at this time. They are thought to be months, maybe only weeks, away from developing.
They are definitely a threat, but the US isn't ignoring a threat of a nuke hitting the West Coast. NK just can't do it now. Maybe in the future, but not now..
